Schleicher Fahrzeugteile is digitising its production – and is becoming a benchmark company for Siemens AG

Schleicher Fahrzeugteile is consistently driving forward its digital transformation, relying on a holistic digitalisation and modernisation strategy.

As part of the move to Penzberg, the entire production facility was rebuilt with the aim of achieving maximum flexibility, higher capacity utilisation and sustainable production reliability. Global challenges such as excessive bureaucracy, tariffs, volatile markets and technological changes have prompted the family-run business to rethink its production strategy and digitise it step by step.

Today, more than 15 CNC machines are already intelligently networked and are centrally controlled via the Siemens Mcenter Shopfloor platform. Integrated programmes handle centralised tool management, programme management and enhanced analysis by utilising machine data on availability, quality and utilisation. The results are more efficient processes, full transparency in production and, consequently, greater flexibility to adapt to market changes.

The aim of the ongoing key project we are running in-house with Siemens is to gradually connect almost all machines to Mcenter and to make parts production more productive through data-driven decisions, modern automation and digitised set-up processes.

The Siemens video illustrates the successful collaboration, offers interesting insights into production and features an interview with former Managing Director Stefan Schleicher (now a shareholder and member of the advisory board).
