New research partnership with WARR Rocketry /TUM Munich
23. June 2025
Schleicher Fahrzeugteile is happy to be chosen as a new partner of the Nixus research project of WARR Rocketry , i.e. the Scientific Working Group for Rocketry and Space Travel e.V. Here students from various disciplines at TUM (Technical University of Munich) are working together on the project of a sounding rocket to reach an altitude of 9000 m as accurately as possible in order to participate in international competitions. In October 2024, the team was the first European student team to successfully launch a bi-liquid rocket at the European Rocketry Challenge in Portugal and received the L3 Award (Liquid 3000m), Team Award and the Payload Award.
Schleicher Fahrzeugteile contributed its expertise in grinding the polygons of the pump shaft for the new type of liquid/liquid rocket. To ensure the perfect fit of the impellers, we worked here in the measuring room and on the EMAG high-performance grinding machine with all our experience and finesse to achieve a great result for the two prototypes. Three members of the pump team picked up the shafts themselves (including a tour of our plant) and saw their own design dreams come true as they unpacked them. We look forward to continuing our collaboration on this interesting and fascinating project!
